Yay, it's finally arrived and all the latest designers are out and about to show off their wears. The gloriously beautiful Erin O'Connor opened the event and praised British fashion for it's "ground breaking" work and that of it's designers. The supermodel originally from Walsall told fashionistas that were gathered for the show at the Natural History Museum in London that British designers were still "breaking the mould". She added how proud she felt to be part of the bi-annual event of which she's vice-chair. Anna Wintour, editor-in chief of American Vogue and the woman that "The Devil Wears Prada" was loosely based on attended, of course! Whilst watching Gareth Pugh's show and the black leather frock-coat featuring a collar swarming with dozens of white, mink, fake 'mice' she didn't even blink. Wintour has in the past been targeted by anti-fur protestors but said of the show "Fearless". The collection was inspired by, among other things, The Pied Piper of Hamlin, apparently, designers get inspiration from the oddest places. Other headlining guests at the show were Suzy Menkes of the International Herald Tribune, Cathy Horyn of the New York Times, Anna Piaggi of Italian Vogue, Michael Roberts of Vanity Fair and Francesca Versace, niece of Donatella. Pugh at only 24 was one of the New Designers supported and sponsored by Topshop, including Louise Goldin, 27 years old who delighted spectators with eye-popping, psychedelic knits which could be described as 'Missoni on acid.' One-shoulder tunics, hooded cagouls, minis with the sides sliced out, tunics, swimsuits and bubble-skirted dresses appeared in kaleidoscopic, fluorescent stripes, accessorised with metallic socks, platform shoes and plastic swim-caps and head-dresses in neon-tone Latex. The Scottish Designers, and I group them together, are taking LFW by storm including the Motherwell-born designer, Christopher Kane, 27 years old who has worked with the big boys and girls like Versace. Deryck Walker, among them, making part of an eight strong contingent. Mary McGowne, the woman who created the Scottish Style Awards said that the impact the designers were having in front of the fashion media was not surprising and adding, "There's been an explosion of dynamic creativity coming out of Scotland and a perpetual wave of new designers is emerging. With Scotland's thriving fashion scene, we have much to celebrate in Scottish creativity so it really isn't surprising o
